Services
Diagnostics, repair & maintenance — residentialIf it heats or cools a house, it can be diagnosed and repaired here. Every visit starts with what’s actually wrong — not with a sales pitch for new equipment.
-
Furnaces & heating
Gas furnaces that won’t start, won’t stay running, blow cold air, or short-cycle. Igniters, inducer motors, flame sensors, thermostats, and the controls in between.
Common calls: no heat, furnace runs then shuts off, strange noises, house won’t reach temperature.
Heating seasonCall early in the day for an evening visit.
-
Air conditioning
Central A/C that won’t cool, won’t turn on, freezes up, or trips the breaker. Capacitors, contactors, fan motors, refrigerant-side diagnostics, and airflow problems.
Common calls: warm air, outdoor unit humming but the fan won’t engage, ice on the lines, system runs constantly.
Summer callsEvening visits work well — the house has had all day to show the problem.
-
Maintenance & tune-ups
A real check-over before the season turns: clean and inspect what needs it, test the controls and safeties, and tell you straight if something is wearing out — before it quits on the coldest night of the year.
Includes: filter check, thermostat check, safety and control testing, and a plain-language report on what was found.
Best in fall & springAsk about current tune-up pricing when you call.
-
Mini-splits & PTACs
Ductless mini-split service and installation, and Amana PTAC units — the through-wall units common in rentals, additions, and converted spaces.
Brands serviced regularly: American Standard / Trane equipment, Amana PTACs, and most other major residential brands.
Rentals & additionsGood fit for a room that never heats or cools right.
What a dirty coil looks like
Both photos below are from real Bird HVAC jobs — no stock images. An outdoor coil collects dirt, grass clippings, and debris over time, and that buildup chokes airflow. The system has to work harder to move heat out of the house, cools less well, and runs longer to do the same job.
Checking and cleaning the outdoor coil is part of a maintenance visit, before a dirty coil turns into a no-cool call on a hot day.
Why a furnace heat exchanger gets pulled out
Both photos below are from a real Bird HVAC job — no stock images. This heat exchanger was pulled out of a gas furnace so it could be looked over properly. It is the part that carries the hot combustion gases through the furnace while the air that heats the house passes around it, keeping the two separate.
That is why inspecting it matters. Damage or wear that can’t be seen while it is still inside the cabinet shows up once it is out — and checking it over is part of looking a gas furnace over before heating season, so the furnace is safe to run.
A note on these photos: a heat exchanger isn’t normally pulled out completely like this. This customer was worried theirs had failed, so it was removed in full to be looked over properly. On a normal inspection, it would stay in place — a full removal like this is extra work, and would only be done for an additional charge.
How a visit works
No surprises-
Step 1
You call or email
Describe what’s happening — what the system is doing, or not doing. A couple of questions follow, then a time is set. Weekday evenings and weekends are normal hours here.
-
Step 2
Diagnosis comes first
The actual problem is found, explained in plain terms, and priced before any repair starts. You decide. If it’s not worth fixing, you’ll hear that straight.
-
Step 3
It gets fixed, on paper
Repair done, system tested, and you get a detailed invoice showing the work and the parts. No vague one-line bill you have to guess at later.
Before you call — three quick checks
These fix more “no heat / no cool” calls than you’d think, and they take two minutes:
- Thermostat: set to Heat or Cool, setpoint past room temperature, and the batteries fresh if it takes them.
- Filter: a clogged filter chokes airflow and can shut a furnace down. If you can’t see light through it, swap it.
- Breaker & switch: check the breaker, and the furnace switch — it looks like a light switch, usually near the unit.
Still nothing? That’s what Bird HVAC is for. Call (317) 515-4266.
Later evening & weekend hours
Bird HVAC offers later evening and weekend hours at no extra cost — the same standard rates, whenever the visit happens. The number of jobs taken on each week is kept limited, so visits aren’t rushed.
If a visit can’t happen when it’s needed, that’s said on the call instead of leaving anyone waiting.
If you smell gas: leave the house, don’t flip switches, and call your local gas company from outside. Don’t wait for an HVAC visit.

For landlords & property managers
Direct relationship, no dispatch company in the middleInstead of going through a dispatch company, landlords and property managers deal directly with the owner-technician — so when a tenant’s heat goes out, you’re calling a person you already know.
- Evenings & weekends at standard rates — no emergency or after-hours upcharges when a tenant calls at 7 p.m.
- Detailed invoices with the work and parts itemized, so your records are clean.
- Rental properties welcome — occupied homes, turn prep questions, and recurring maintenance.
- One point of contact. The owner and the technician are the same person, start to finish.

About Bird HVAC
Owner-operated, based in MonroviaBird HVAC LLC is a one-person shop based in Monrovia, Indiana, serving the towns around it — heating, cooling, and the maintenance that keeps both running.
The approach is diagnosing first: a system that won’t run is a puzzle with a real answer, and most of the time the answer isn’t “buy a whole new system.” Finding the failed part, fixing it right, and leaving a house comfortable again is the job.
Bird HVAC is licensed and insured, and detailed records are kept on every job — the work done, the parts used, and the price agreed before the repair started.

Straight answers
Do you really not charge extra for evenings and weekends?
Really. Weekday evenings and weekends are normal working hours, billed at standard rates. No emergency or after-hours upcharge — that’s one of the reasons landlords and homeowners call Bird HVAC instead of a bigger shop.
What should I expect to pay?
It depends on what’s wrong, and that can’t be known until the system is diagnosed — anyone who quotes a repair price over the phone before seeing the system is guessing. What happens instead: the problem is found, explained, and priced before the repair starts, so the decision is made with real numbers in front of you.
Do you install new systems, or just repair?
Repair and maintenance are the core of the business, and install work is done too — including ductless mini-splits. If a system is at the end of its life, you’ll hear that honestly, with the repair-versus-replace math explained without pressure either way.
I’m a landlord. Can you handle my properties?
Yes — residential rentals and property managers are a priority. Detailed, itemized invoices, evening and weekend availability at standard rates, and one contact from first call to finished job. Start with an email to tyler@bird-hvac.com with details about your properties.
What brands do you work on?
Most major residential brands, including American Standard / Trane equipment and Amana PTACs. If you know the brand and model, mention it when you call — it helps the right parts arrive the first time.
Had a good visit?
Bird HVAC is still building up its Google reviews. If the work went well, a quick review helps neighbors find an honest local option — it only takes a minute.

It doesn’t have to be technical. This is enough to arrive prepared:
- What’s happening — no heat, no cool, strange noise, won’t start.
- What kind of system — furnace, A/C, mini-split, PTAC — and the brand, if you know it.
- Where you are — town and address.
- When you’re home — evenings and weekends are the working hours.
